GUN VIOLENCE INCIDENTS PENNSYLVANIA

1300 Pennsylvanians lose their lives to gun violence every year…….

November 30th, 2016 New Stanton: A 14 year old boy shot his mother and brother while sleeping, with the intention of also killing his father who was at work. The gun was on top of their refrigerator, easy access for a teenager.

November 10th, 2016  Canonsburg:  A domestic violence incident turned deadly when 47 year old Michael Cwiklinski shot his girlfriend , then killed a policeman before turning the gun on himself.

September 30th, 2016 Middletown Township:  A home invasion was unsuccessful, but the perpetrators shot the owner and his dog.  The shooter and his partner escaped, and the owner and dog survived the gunshot wounds.

August 6th, 2016 Sinking Spring: Martin Short shoots and kills his entire family of 5, including the family dog, and himself in another murder-suicide.  Martin and Megan Short had a rocky marriage, and survived the trauma of their youngest 2 year old going through a heart operation.  Megan admittedly had PTSD from the experience.  On June 4th and July 18th, police were called to the family home for a domestic dispute.  She informed the police that she was afraid of her husband, but never applied for a PFA- ‘Protection From Abuse’order. Megan planned on leaving Martin, leasing an apartment in Yardley PA, with move in day August 6th.  Martin promised to help her move, but instead would not let her and ended everyone’s life in a murder frenzy, leaving a horrific scene in his wake.

June 24th, 2016 Philadelphia: A police officer was shot several times as he approached people smoking marijuana behind an apartment building.  He survived as his shooter, Donte Island, who had served 9 years in federal prison on a gun conviction, was captured.

June 7th, 2016 Norristown: A 22 year old Norristown man, Jonathan Walker, got into a heated argument with 24 year old Marquis Johnson in a BP gas station.  He followed the victim to the parking lot of a MacDonalds on West Main Street, shot and killed Johnson who was found dead with 11 bullet wounds.

May 5th, 2016  Norristown: A road rage incident occurred when a man fired a single shot into the passenger door of another car on Route 476.  The shooter fled the scene and escaped detection.  Fortunately, no one was injured.

April 24, 2016: Montgomery County-Altercation at Keystone Fellowship Church service leaves one man shot dead. Mark Storms, a regular church goer,  brought his gun to service.  During the service Robert E. Braxton was causing a commotion when asked to move, being disruptive and surly. He had calmed down by the time Storms interjected himself into the dispute.  Thinking he was being a ‘good guy with a gun’,  Mr. Storms went over to force Braxton to another seat or out of the church by brandishing his pistol. This angered  Braxton, who threw a punch at Storms, who reacted by firing twice, and killing Braxton.  Authorities and church members alike felt there was no need for using a firearm inside the church, and Mr. Storms was arrested for his actions. On the church website, “As a church family, we are shocked and heartbroken over what took place, and our congregation is in prayer for everyone involved.”

March 20th, 2016: Fort Littleton, PA – a retired PA State Trooper attacked and killed two employees at a PA Turnpike toll booth, and was shot to death by responding State Troopers when he attempted to steal contents from an Armored car.  The shooter was a retired PA State trooper.

March 4th, 2016: Wilkinsburg, PA – two gunmen attack a home where a backyard party is ongoing. 5 were fatally shot, including an 8 month pregnant woman and her unborn child, and 2 were injured in a horrific massacre.  The gunmen escaped.

January 15th, 2016: Philadelphia, PA – A man who had been evicted from a homeless shelter got his hands on a gun and fatally shot one employee while wounding another at Station House Shelter in north Philadelphia.  Former Mayor Wilson Goode, whose organization runs the shelter stated that the employee shot to death was someone dedicated and compassionate about the plight of the homeless, and he fears that fewer homeless will seek shelter for fear of violence.

January 7th, 2016: Philadelphia, PA – A lone wolf self radicalized shooter shot Police Officer Hartnett sitting in his stationary police vehicle late in the evening.  Officer Hartnett, though injured, was able to chase the suspect down and arrest him. Fortunately, his injuries are non life threatening.

November 29th, 2015: Hatfield, Montco –three people found dead in an apparent murder- suicide as 48 year old Paul Marshall kills a middle aged woman  and her 28 year old son. Weapon used was a semi-automatic rifle.

October 12th, 2015: Philadelphia– A 14 year old boy was shot in the head by an unidentified gunman in the early evening.  He died a day later.  No motive for the shooting.

March 4th, 2015: Newtown Square, Delaware County – 13 year old Cayman Naib found his father’s pistol and takes his own life outside in the snow. His body is missing for days.

December 16th, 2014: Pennsburg, Mont. County man Bradley Stone went on a shooting rampage where he killed his ex wife and 5 other family members in a horrible mass shooting.

November 6th, 8th, 2014: Pottstown-Skyler Vollmuth shoots at a man he is trying to rob, and narrowly misses him.  On Nov. 8th, Vollmuth shot at a man who he approached, and hit him in the leg as he was running away.  Vollmuth was eventually arrested and put in jail.  His weapons were supplied by Briana Sickel, 29,  and Rashaun Cambers, who were in collaboration with Vollmuth in a gun fencing scheme, needed because of his criminal record.

September 2014: Blooming Grove barracks, Northeastern PA– Eric Frein ambushed state police at their headquarters, shooting two and killing one. This lead to a massive 6 week  manhunt in the woods of PA, where the fugitive was finally apprehended.
